If you want to become a licensed private hire driver in London you must complete a topographical assessment. The assessment is held at TfL test centres and is conducted under exam conditions by TfL assessors.
You must send us your private hire driver application before you sit an assessment.
How to book an assessment
To book a test, you must follow these steps:
Step 1
Complete your Private Hire Application and submit it to TfL.
Step 2
Once your application has been processed, TfL will write to you to book your topographical test.
Step 3
Go to the centre at the date and time shown on your booking confirmation. When you arrive, TfL will carry out identity checks and register you for the assessment.
